5 Exciting Moments From The Final Daredevil Season 2 Trailer
It’s been 11 months since we left Matthew Murdock and his first season adventures behind on Netflix, but the wait for his new journey is almost over. There’s only three days left until Daredevil Season 2 premieres, and as one final push to get fans jazzed for the new batch of episodes, a final trailer has been posted online. Take a look!
At nearly one minute and 45 seconds, there was a lot of action packed into this new preview, but also a narrative that makes it clear that Hell’s Kitchen is going to be put through the ringer. We also got a decent amount of dialogue, from Stick telling Matt that Hell’s Kitchen is involved in a war it doesn’t know about to Elektra Natchios taking her new affair with Matt to an aggressive level. There’s even a voice that sounds an awful lot like Madame Gao from Season 1. After pouring over all these moments, we’ve gathered five of the most exciting (and weird, if we’re being honest) from the new Daredevil trailer.
Underground Ninja Fight
The Hand was hinted at last season via their proxy Nobu, but in Season 2, it’s clear that these mysterious ninjas have set their sight on Hell’s Kitchen for unknown reasons. We saw shots of them battling the Man Without Fear in the previous trailer, but this underground fight looks especially intense. If Daredevil’s iteration of The Hand is anything like their comic book counterparts, then these ninjas aren’t going to just go down with just a couple of punches. They’re going to be near the top of Matt’s "most challenging opponents" list. We also still don’t know exactly what this group has in store for Hell’s Kitchen, only that it’s caught the attention of Stick and the people he works with. If you thought Wilson Fisk’s plan in Season 1 were bad, I suspect whatever The Hand is plotting will be worse.
An Especially Large Explosion
Admittedly, explosions come with the territory in superhero stories. Fighting crime isn’t a clean job, and occasionally something is going to go up in booming flames. Still, there seems to be something more important with this particular explosion, on what appears to be a ship. Did The Hand set it off? Is Frank Castle responsible for this destruction on his crusade against crime? Maybe Elektra caused it while out in the field with Daredevil. It’s hard to say at this point, but when you take this explosion along with the others seen in the previews, it’s clear that there’s going to be a lot more mayhem in Hell’s Kitchen this year.
Matt And Karen Getting Closer

There seemed to be a spark between Matt Murdock and Karen Page last season, but between Matt dealing with Wilson Fisk’s forces and Karen spending more time with Foggy Nelson, there weren’t many opportunities for them to explore that spark. Of course, comic book fans know that Karen was Matt’s first love interest in the comics, and this shot in the trailer seems to indicate that they’re moving closer to something romantic. However, with Matt’s old flame Elektra back in town, it’s going to be hard for Matt to take his relationship with Karen to a new level with his sai-wielding ex back in the picture. Those who have read the original Daredevil stories also know that Karen’s fate is a tragic one, so we’ll have to wait and see whether the Netflix version will walk down a similar path.
Creepy People
This wasn’t exactly an exciting moment, but more of a “What the hell?!” moment. Earlier in the trailer, a police officer discovered a girl locked in a cage, and when she looked up at his flashlight, her eyes were blank. It’s as if she didn’t have a soul or was a blank slate. As seen above, we were later treated to that girl and four more like her in a hospital, all with the same blank looks on their faces. These individuals are obviously not normal, so what’s their deal? If this were the comics, I would suspect they’re under Kilgrave’s control, and but he appeared in Jessica Jones Season 1 and is now…let’s say (no spoilers here) incapacitated. Could these be more of the Black Sky, a.k.a. like that special kid Nobu tried to bring into Hell’s Kitchen last season who Stick killed. Perhaps The Hand have gotten their hands (hehe, pun) on more Black Sky, and these people will be used as weapons in their plans.
More Daredevil vs. Punisher
It’s no secret that the primary conflict driving Daredevil Season 2 is the conflict between Daredevil and The Punisher. While Matt thinks he can clean up Hell’s Kitchen without taking lives, Frank Castle has no issue with slaughtering criminals on his own missions of justice, and their different ideologies will lead to clashes. It’s hard to tell whether the above scene is from their first fight (when Matt will get chained to a chimney) or later in the season, but this final shot in the trailer was just beautiful. There’s something about their movement in the rain that is great to watch, almost like it’s an interpretive dance. Matt’s agility makes for a nice contrast Frank’s brawling style. However, movement aside, the fights between these two are going to be bloody, and while they may end up teaming up at the end of the season, these two are never going to be friends.
Netflix's Daredevil Season 2 premieres on Friday, March 18 at 12:01 a.m. PT.
