Weird Al is among the many entertainment staples of my youth. In fact, I celebrated some of his parodies as much as I did the songs on which they were based. For that reason, added to the fact that I happen to like his voice, I’ll always be a fan. Upon reading Comedy Central’s release regarding Al’s upcoming concert special, which is set to air in October, I promptly went to YouTube and collected some of my favorite Weird Al videos.

Before we get to that, here’s what you need to know about the “’Weird Al’ Yankovic Live! The Alpocalypse Tour” special on Comedy Central. The concert special, which was shot this summer in Toronto during Al's tour, will premiere on Comedy Central on Saturday, October 1st at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. It will be released on DVD/Blu-Ray the following Tuesday (October 4th). The concert includes Al’s performance of “Perform This Way” (a parody of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”) and other songs off his latest album “Alpocalypse,” along with some of the classics, including “White & Nerdy,” “Amish Paradise,” and “Fat.”

"Weird Al is an American icon who is at the top of his game," said Comedy Central’s David Bernath. "He's as relevant and connected to his fans as he’s ever been and we're thrilled to give our audience the first opportunity to watch this fantastic special.""I totally agree with David Bernath," declared Yankovic. "I’m awesome."

He kind of is. If you disagree, I’m guessing you either didn’t grow up laughing and singing along to songs like “Eat It” and “Amish Paradise,” or you’ve forgotten just how amusing those tunes were. If that’s the case, scroll down and revisit some of Al’s greatest hits.
