Arrow Trailer Teases A Big 'Return' For Two Characters
Following up on last week's excellent guest appearance by a certain gone-but-never-forgotten Canary, next week's Arrow is actually bringing back a few other characters from episodes' past. In addition to Cynthia Addai-Robinson's Amanda Waller and Malcolm Merlyn, Two less likely recurring characters are making an appearance in "The Return," one in flashback and the other much more present. More specific spoilers (and some pretty spoilery photos) ahead!
Check out the trailer below, which teases the grand return of Deathstroke, as well as the late Tommy Merlyn.
While we don't actually see Deathstroke, there's no mistaking that accent and Manu Bennett's wonderfully gravelly voice at the start of the trailer for "The Return." From what CW has revealed about it, the episode will have Malcolm (John Barrowman) putting Oliver and Thea in some kind of situation that lands them on Lian Yu, which just so happens to be where Slade Wilson is imprisoned. The trailer hints at a confrontation between Oliver and Slade, but these photos reveal a whole lot more of what's in store for Slade, Oliver and Thea...
Looks like Oliver's trying to chase down Slade in the above photo. Deathstroke doesn't really look like he's running away. In fact, I'm going to guess that he's in pursuit of Thea, because...
Yeah, that should be an interesting fight. And it looks like Slade's going for Oliver too...
Or maybe he'll fight them both at the same time...
But wait, Thea brought a gun to this fight...

And is it me, or does it seem like maybe Oliver's trying to get this situation under control...
Is Slade going to make it out of this episode alive?! Will Thea make it out without taking another life?
And what about Tommy? Where does he fit in? Oliver's deceased friend (and Thea's deceased half-brother) is appearing through flashback, as Oliver and Maseo (Karl Yune) head back to Starling City in order to retrieve the Omega bio weapon. Amanda Waller urges Oliver not to reveal his identity, but he takes the risk of checking in on his family and friends, including Colin Donnell's Tommy who, if I'm not mistaken, can be seen very briefly in the above trailer...
Looks like he's paying Oliver a visit. Will he talk to the grave? It'd be interesting to hear Tommy's thoughts on his friend back when he thought Oliver had died.
Side-note regarding the returns of Deathstroke and Amanda Waller in the same episode... Once again, it looks like Spartacus veterans Manu Bennett and Cynthia Addai-Robinson will be appearing in the same episode, but the fact that they're in two different time periods suggests we won't be getting to see a Crixus/Naevia screen reunion. (I will never give up hope that this series will make that happen someday.)
