Daredevil Season 2 May Premiere Earlier Than We Thought

As the first Marvel series to air on Netflix, Daredevil earned heaps of critical praise in 2015 for its dark storytelling and nuanced characters. So it wasn’t surprising when Marvel ordered up Season 2 only two weeks after Season 1 premiered. Although we’ve known for a while it will air in 2016, there hasn’t been any news about when specifically fans will be able to stream Matt Murdock’s latest adventures, but it now looks like the Man Without Fear’s sophomore season is only a couple months away from premiering.

In their recent coverage of Daredevil Season 2, EW noted that fans can expect to see the next batch of episodes in March 2016. As of this writing, no one from Daredevil and Netflix has confirmed whether this information is accurate or not - our own attempts to confirm with Netflix have gone unanswered so far - but this airdate would make sense. After all, Season 1 aired in April, so to air it a month earlier in the following year isn’t that radical of a scheduling shift. Plus, Season 2 has been filming since July, so it stands to reason everything would be put together by then.

If you thought 2015 was a big year for Marvel on Netflix, next year is looking to continue that trend and maybe go further. In addition to Daredevil Season 2, Luke Cage will also premiere sometime in 2016, following up on the super-strong hero’s debut in Jessica Jones. Speaking of that show, there’s no word yet on whether it will return for Season 2, but if it does get a renewal, it’s quite possible it could air sometime near the end of the year, giving fans three Marvel shows on the streaming platform. On top of all that, Iron Fist will also likely begin production in the near future. However, as far as Daredevil is concerned, it’s safe to say there’s a lot of anticipation for what the blind superhero will be up to in his second year in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Daredevil Season 1 ended with Matt finally defeating Wilson Fisk and donning a new crimson costume to wear while battling evildoers. When Season 2 kicks off, he’ll be continuing his crime fighting crusade, but he won’t be the only one trying to clean up Hell’s Kitchen. Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) will be dishing out his own brand of lethal justice, and the two vigilantes will come into conflict with each other over their different methods of tackling crime. As if that wasn’t enough to deal with, Matt will run into his old flame Elektra Natchios (played by Elodie Yung), though the reunion will be anything but calm. Fortunately, Matt won’t be dealing with the problems alone. In addition to friends/allies like Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, Matt will also be aided by New York district attorney Blake Tower, who will help Daredevil with inte; to help take down criminals.

Whether it’s in March or a little bit afterwards, Daredevil fans can catch the next season sometime next year on Netflix. But we're hoping it's March.
