Eliza Dushku Signs On For Comedy Pilot With Damon Wayans

Eliza Dushku is giving comedy a try as she’s been signed on to play the female lead in a CBS comedy pilot. The role puts her opposite comedian Damon Wayans and would be Dushku’s first regular comedy job, should the pilot go to series.

According to Deadline, Dushku is set to play the female lead in a currently untitled comedy pilot, which has something to do with a sports radio show and is being written by Grounded for Life’s Bill Martin and Mike Schiff. Deadline states that the pilot is inspired by ESPN personality Colin Cowherd’s “outspoken sports talk show.” It follows Wayan’s character Nick, who plays a big-headed, quick-witted and beloved sports radio host. Dushku has been cast to play Casey, Nick’s on-air partner who’s also described as quick-witted, but also “socially oblivious and pathologically blunt.”

Most of Dushku’s TV experience involves dramatic roles. From Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel to Tru Calling and more recently, Dollhouse, she’s established herself as a dramatic actor with plenty of demonstrated athletic skills. This role would definitely take her in a different direction, but I don’t have a hard time seeing her in a comedic role. Her character description sounds funny, especially if she turns out to be the ideal woman for any sports-loving man, if not for her overly blunt (and possibly intimidating) personality.
