First Clip From IFC's New Series Comedy Bang! Bang! Features Zach Galifianakis

IFC is in the process of expanding its slate of original programming after the recent success of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret and Portlandia. They are developing a show to air sometime next year, loosely based on Marc Maron's hit WTF podcast but first, the network has two series to premiere (and promote) this summer with the talk and game show spoofs, Comedy Bang! Bang! and Bunk. The two new comedies will run back to back on IFC starting in June.

Comedy Bang! Bang! is a 'variety show' hosted by Scott Aukerman, which will feature celebrity guests, humorous sketches and animation. Pivotal in the development of Zach Galifianakis' Between Two Ferns (which is more than evident in the first few seconds of this preview, even without the bearded comedian's presence), this time Aukerman is put in front of the camera and it looks, uh, truly bizarre. And, more importantly, really funny. The first look features Aukerman trying to interview Galifianakis with little success as the latter is suddenly occupied by imagining what it would be like if dogs could talk. Well, busy trying and failing. Take a look.

See. Bizarre but once the Comedy Bang! Bang! clip started gaining momentum, it had me laughing out loud. I really liked the awkwardly paced editing and, well, the dogs (and cat) in costume. What can i say, I'm an easy sell. The two are obviously incredibly comfortable together so having the Hangover star appear as one of his Aukerman's first guests (not to mention in the first promo) is a really smart move by IFC.

The creator was a writer and performer on David Cross and Bob Odenkirk's Mr. Show and hosted IFC's Comedy Death Ray. Renaissance man Reggie Watts (comedian, musician, artist and the man with the huge afro), will appear alongside Aukerman every week as his 'band leader' of sorts. Even though the show is clearly taped, it is also spoofing the talk show genre so there will be more guests than just Galifianakis, including Adam Scott, Amy Poehler and PF Tompkins. Sounds rad.

Comedy Bang! Bang! premieres on Friday, June 8 at 10 p.m. ET on IFC. It is 'hosted' by creator Scott Aukerman.
