Watch Harry Potter Fans Play Real-Life Quidditch After Jumping Out Of A Plane
There are few fandoms that are more loyal and rabid than Harry Potter’s. Much of this is due to the fact that the fans grew up with Harry’s magical adventures. The novels were released over the course of 10 years, so by the time the series had concluded kids had become teenagers, teenagers had become adults, and adults continued to have a guilty pleasure. And those who didn’t read the novels had the successful film series to look forward to, only adding the droves of fans who wanted to be accepted to Hogwarts.
While we all consider ourselves Potterheads, there is a group of extreme athletes who might have us beat. A group of skydivers recently took to the skies in order to play the coolest sport in the wizarding world: Quidditch. The results are something amazing.
Nuts right? The fact that these people managed to navigate so well through the sky while plummeting downward and holding onto brooms is truly remarkable.
The above video was quite the production. There was a mass of people skydiving at the same time; this included the Quidditch players, the ones holding the ring, cameramen, and presumably a few more people for safety in case something went wrong.
While the idea of playing real-life Quidditch is cool enough, the fact that it actually succeeded is remarkable. Not only did the chaser successfully grab the quaffle in the air, but he managed to “fly” over to the goal and actually sink the shot. 10 points to whatever Hogwarts House that dude is on.
Of course, there are plenty of mechanics of Quidditch missing from this video. The seeker and golden snitch are obviously missing from the equation. Trying to catch a tiny golden ball while plummeting to the earth seems pretty damn hard. It would be hard to even see, let alone manage to travel to it and catch it. Harry, Draco, and Cho deserve some serious props.
Additionally, there were no beaters on the team, although we did see a few skydivers who might have been particularly good in the position. The video showed two of the participants shoving each other a bit in their quest for the quaffle. Good thing they didn’t carry any beater clubs because who knows what midair mischief they would have gotten themselves into.

Overall, this video is one of the coolest Harry Potter related things I’ve ever seen. While the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme parks put you in Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, and the castle, these skydivers took pretending to be magical to an escalated level. I wonder how many skydivers are going to want the Harry Potter treatment moving forward.
We’re sure those skydivers will be getting their letters from Hogwarts any day now.
