Jane Lynch Confirmed To Host The 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards

If Glee’s Sue Sylvester were to host the Emmy’s, she’d probably do it clutching a bullhorn and wearing a tracksuit. While the fictional character isn’t likely to take the stage this September when the Emmy’s air, actress Jane Lynch is confirmed to host the event and who knows? The tracksuit could make an appearance.

Fox made the official announcement today, stating that Lynch, who’s known for her roles in films like Best in Show and The 40 Year Old Virgin and more recently, Fox’s Glee, will play host at the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which are set to air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 18, on FOX.

“We’re delighted to have Jane Lynch host the Primetime Emmys this year,” said John Shaffner, Chairman and CEO, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “When our host has comedic, dramatic and musical talents – as Jane proved in last year’s opening number – we know it’s going to be fun for us and for the audience at home!”

Something tells me Lynch will be a bit more dressed up than her character Sue Sylvester is on Glee, however Lynch did reference Sue’s preferred choice in apparel in response to getting to host the Emmy’s.

“I am tickled pink to be hosting the Primetime Emmys on FOX,” said Lynch. “I’m looking forward to singing, dancing and sporting my finest tracksuit.”

As for the Emmy nominations, we still have over a month to wait for those…

Nominations for the 63RD PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS will be announced at 5:40 AM PT on Thursday, July 14, from the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre, on the campus of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood, CA.
