Katee Sackhoff Talks About The Final Cylon

Earlier today I got a chance to speak with Katee Sackhoff (Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace on Battlestar Galactica). She spoke a great deal about Starbuck, the show’s final season and what it’s been like playing such an iconic character. We’ll have the full interview up as soon as we can. We’re not machines. Or maybe we are, and the Blend Television staff is the final Cylon. Katee might agree to that, as she touched on that info during our conversation.
It turns out that there is a final Cylon model, and someone knows who it is. According to Katee they have filmed up to episode 14 of the final season of BSG, and she has seen the script for episode 15. She, thankfully, wouldn’t reveal who the final Cylon was – as much as I want to know, I’m as much a fan as anyone and would prefer to have that revealed through the storytelling of Ron Moore – but the cast has been told who producers Ron Moore and David Eick have chosen. When asked if she knew who the final Cylon is Katee replied, ”Um…no. Maybe. No, no. Maybe. I don’t know. Does that help you at all?” Luckily Katee did go into some more detail on the cast’s theorizing and what they know. ”We’ve been told who it is. I personally don’t believe it,” Katee said. ”I think that is something that is going to be kept until the very end.” The secret of the final Cylon is a big one, and her skepticism on being given a red herring makes perfect sense. It could be a year before we find out the truth, and if the entire cast knows…well, you know how leaky the Internet can get. ”To have to keep [the final Cylon] secret for a year…I think, personally, they should shoot like five different endings," Katee said about keeping the secret. ”Whichever character doesn’t fit best, they should just make that the final Cylon. It’ll be like some random character from the first season who had one line.” As the first run of episodes begins next Friday evening don’t expect to get a whole lot of answers. According to Katee we won’t be finding out who the final Cylon is in the first run of episodes. It looks like a lot of the big stuff will be held for season 4.5, and we still don’t know when that’ll be appearing. We’ll have the full transcript up – which will include Katee’s thoughts on Starbuck’s relationship with Lee and Anders, where Kara is at the start of season 4, and just what the heck is up with that “herald of the apocalypse” deal – soon.
