Lifetime To Update Their Amanda Knox Movie Following Knox's Acquittal

In light of the news that the Amanda Knox was released from prison after the court overturned the murder conviction, Lifetime is set to update the film they premiered earlier this year focusing on the college student’s possible involvement in the death of British student Meredith Kercher.

Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy premiered last February on Lifetime and starred Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) as the title character, who spent a good portion of the movie vehemently declaring her innocence. At the time the film aired, Knox was serving her sentence in Italy, having been convicted of the murder of Kercher, with two other people also having been convicted for their involvement in the crime. Since Lifetime continues to air the film, it makes sense that they’d want to include some kind of update, letting viewers know that the case was overturned, for interest and accuracy purposes, at the very least.

According to Deadline Lifetime is set to include an update in the form of an opening and closing card that mentions Knox’s recent acquittal. Lifetime is set to air the film tomorrow night, which as Deadline notes, is convenient (albeit coincidental) timing for the network, considering all of the buzz Knox is getting today.
