Mark Burnett Brings The Bible to The History Channel (with CGI!)

Mark Burnett has decided to do his best King James impersonation by bringing his vision of the The Bible to The History Channel. Yes, the man best known for producing such hard-hitting series as Survivor and The Apprentice will bring you the word of GOD...in a 10-part miniseries to air on the History Channel.

The History Channel and Burnett issued a press release detailing that the The Bible "promises to be landmark television programming, combining unforgettable stories with live action and state-of-the-art computer-generated imagery (CGI)." A CGI Bible? Awesome. And don't worry, religious TV fans, all your favorite parables will be there: Noah's Ark, the Exodus, and the blockbuster event everyone wants to see again, the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Although personally I thought Passion of the Christ really beat that subject to death...)

So yeah, because of the sheer scale of the undertaking, you won't be able to sit service in front of the History Channel until 2013 (assuming the world doesn't end before then). I wonder if they'll use the into-title "Based on a true story," or the more generic "Inspired by true events..."
