The frenzy and excitement surrounding the Olympics has grown as the countdown clock has ticked ever closer to the start date of the London 2012 opening ceremony. The clock is just over the 2-week mark at this point, with July 27 marking the opening day events. Because of this, NBC, the network responsible for controlling Olympic content available in the States, has just launched plenty of apps and other access to the summer games via NBCOlympics.com .
NBC has had plans to stream many of the Olympic events for months, but much of the content will only be available to cable, satellite, and telco subscribers. This may be disheartening news for those hoping to have online access, but luckily the NBC Internet site will feature results, photos, and video content, among other items—which may not be as good as streaming content, but should be somewhat helpful, nonetheless. It is only the “NBC Olympics Application” and the “NBC Olympics Live Extra Application” that may cause a certain faction of viewers problems, thanks to an authentication model.
THR first reported the news the platforms had launched, noting 3,500 hours of content would be available for viewers, including multiple medal events. So, if you will be out and about during certain televised events, the additional content might come in handy.
