Newest Fear The Walking Dead Trailer Is Action-Packed
With The Walking Dead back from hiatus and blowing our minds every episode, it seems that we’ve once again been infected with Zombie-mania. Luckily AMC knows how addicting the world of The Walking Dead is, and after we see an apparently brutal season finale, Fear The Walking Dead will premiere its second season. AMC has been slowly premiering footage for Season 2 of Fear, and a new teaser was just released that contained the most action and walkers yet. Check it out.
There’s a lot going on this quick teaser. Anyone who was unhappy with the pacing and setup of Season 1 will presumably be much happier when Season 2 kicks off. Let’s break down what we’re being shown here. To start, Fear The Walking Dead is apparently using narration for the first time. As the first shot opens, we hear our protagonist Madison Clark coming to terms with the new world that her family inhabits:
This is one of the main concepts of the original Walking Dead. While attempting to kill and avoid walkers, survivors become deadly and often immoral. We’ve seen how, in The Walking Dead, other humans become the scariest part of the world. Now that society has officially crumbled into chaos, we can assume that Madison’s group will have to defend themselves against humans, while also trying to maintain some level of morality.
We’re also being shown a ton of different threats in this teaser. We see Strand’s beach home presumably destroyed and overrun with walkers. What is startling about this imagery is how healthy the walkers look. Because it is still the early stages of the zombie apocalypse, the dead haven’t begun to truly decompose and become walking skeletons, as we’ve seen in The Walking Dead. This was presumably make them easier to kill as well, since their skulls and other bones haven’t been weakened yet. Additionally, the human threat is present as an intruder with a rifle is shown on Strand’s yacht, and there is also a lifeboat full of helpless people waving to the group.
Around the middle of the teaser, we’re shown Chris saying goodbye to Liza. This presumably happens at the top of Season 2, as the last thing we saw in the series was Travis shooting Liza so she didn’t have to turn into a walker. I think we all assumed that was the last we’d see of Liza, so I’m happily surprised that we’ll get at least another scene with her- even though she won’t exactly be acting in it. I found Liza to be one of the most captivating characters in Fear and was sad to see her, as well as her medical training, go in the season finale.
Overall, the second season of Fear The Walking Dead looks like it’s truly coming into it’s own. Fans of the original series are so used to action and violence that it was a tad difficult to get through the beginning few episodes of Fear. Now it appears our new group of survivors will get their hands dirty and therefore keep the attention of the viewers.
Fear The Walking Dead returns to AMC April 10th.
