New Outlander Teaser Trailer Shows Adventure, Violence And Romance

Just in time for the Black Sails Season 1 finale, Starz has released a new trailer for Ronald D. Moore's adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. In addition to revealing a bit of adventure, violence and romance, the spot also reminds us that the series is coming this Summer!

This new look at the anticipated series shows Claire (Caitriona Balfe) kneeling by the standing stones, which may be the ones that send her back through time, from the 1940s, where she's a World War II combat nurse, to 18th century Scotland. From there, we see her on horseback with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), the gallant Scottish warrior whom Claire is eventually forced to marry. Thus begins a complex love affair, as Claire is married to a man named Frank (Tobias Menzies) in her past (or technically, the future?). The trailer actually offers a nod to the story's tricky timeline, saying "What if your future was the past?," which is the case for Claire Randall.

Among the footage is the sight of Claire and Jamie on horseback and then Castle Leoch...

And also, hello...

Jamie and Claire passionate

Looks like a couple of moments that tease the budding passion between Jamie and Claire.

The scene by the fire looks like it might be the same scene we glimpsed in this previously released photo:

And speaking of photos, we've been rounding up some of the various picture glimpses from the series since the drama resumed production in Scotland last month. One of the latest to arrive on the Starz Outlander Instagram page is this behind-the-scenes look at Claire...

We're still waiting for an official premiere date for Outlander, but in the meantime, the premium cable channel continues to assure us that it's expected to arrive this Summer! Check out our last photo round-up here, and keep up with our Outlander coverage here.
