We have got to give AMC credit; they know their way around a good graphic novel adaptation. One of the network’s upcoming series that has us incredibly excited is the adaptation of Garth Ennis’ Preacher – produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Details have slowly poured in over time, and we now have a new look at one of the comics’ most beloved characters. Check out AMC’s latest character poster featuring Irish vampire Cassidy below.
The above photo – released via the official Preacher Twitter account – showcases the classic Preacher character Cassidy. Portrayed by actor Joseph Gilgun, Cassidy appears to stare straight into the camera, grits his teeth in a demented smile, as sunlight creeps through an open door behind him and sears his flesh. The caption of the photo bears the phrase “Cassidy is ready… are you?” as an ominous warning to viewers, along with a promise that audiences can catch a sneak preview of Preacher tomorrow night during the Season 2 premiere of Fear The Walking Dead.
Based upon everything we know about Preacher, Cassidy seems to fit right into the absolutely insane structure of the show. An Irish vampire (you read that correctly), Cassidy is a mischievous, fun-loving sidekick to series protagonist Jesse Custer – portrayed by Howard Stark himself, Dominic Cooper. Cassidy is loyal, daring, and a bit of a wild card who will get himself into just about any type of trouble imaginable.
It’s also worth noting that – much like the character of Arseface – AMC has done a fairly admirable job of making the character visually faithful to Garth Ennis’ source material, whilst reigning in some of the most absurd visual aspects of Cassidy’s look.
