Raising Hope Preview: Jason Lee Rocks Out In Guest Role

Tomorrow night Jason Lee will reunite with My Name is Earl creator Gregg Garcia when he guest stars on Fox’s Raising Hope. Check out these clips and see what Lee had to say about the role.

Jason Lee spoke to us today about his appearance on tomorrow night’s episode of Raising Hope. The former My Name is Earl star and current star of TNT’s Memphis Beat commented on the Raising Hope cast and series creator Gregg Garcia, saying “Gregg surrounds himself with really good people and I think (No pun intended), Raising Hope has some really good karma.” As far as his decision to take on the guest role, Lee said, “Gregg Garcia just called me and said, ‘I’ve got this obnoxious rock star who we see in the ‘80’s and we see in present day, are you into playing him? I said absolutely.’”

Before we get to more on what Lee had to say about the role, here’s Fox’s description of the episode:

“Burt gave up on his teenage dreams of being a rock star because he was a parent. Jimmy feels so guilty for ruining his father’s dream that he gets Burt a second chance to relive his rock fantasy with his music idol, Smokey Floyd (guest star Lee), at the upcoming Grocery-Palooza concert in the all-new “Burt Rocks” episode of RAISING HOPE airing Tuesday, Nov. 30 (9:01-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Lee’s description of the character below is pretty funny, however when you watch the videos further down, you’ll see that he’s painting a fairly accurate picture of the role he’s playing:

“Me making a complete ass of myself and actually quite proudly, heavily disguised behind some pretty awesome make-up and hair. You could say its Jeff Bebe, my character from Almost Famous in a very bizarre comedy world as seen through the eyes of somebody on acid, you might say.”
