SNL: Watch A Mulleted Russell Crowe Crash The Party On Survivor
Australian actor Russell Crowe is arguably one of the most respected actors of this generation. He’s an Oscar winner with some undeniably legendary screen credits to his name, ranging from Gladiator to A Beautiful Mind. With such prestige behind him, it was awesome to see him cut loose last night and make an absolute ass out of himself for our amusement. Russell Crowe took the Saturday Night Live stage last night, and gave us a brand new, mulleted, weirdo character that we hope sticks around for quite some time. Check out the video below to see more of this magic.
The setup of the Saturday Night Live sketch will feel familiar to anyone who has ever watched an episode of the CBS reality competition Survivor. It all starts with Beck Bennett’s version of Survivor host Jeff Probst explaining that the three remaining contestants have spent weeks in the jungle, and that the network has flown in a loved one to visit each of them. The first two seem normal enough, but then (because of the rule of three) Pete Davidson’s Nathan gets a visit from his “Uncle’s friend Terry.”
Nathan’s Uncle’s friend Terry will seem familiar to just about anyone, because we all have that weird relationship that we somewhat dread. Terry’s the sort of guy who dates women who steal credit cards, takes a five-year-old to see Basic Instinct, and has absolutely no trouble eating a Duck’s vagina in one bite. Seriously that last part happens in the sketch. Russell Crowe commits so hard to the scene that by the end, the audience seems to find themselves caught up in a mixture of laughter and nervous excitement. Seriously, if there's ever a MacGruber sequel, we think the character Terry could be part of the team.

What sells the humor of the sketch even more than the writing is the fact that it’s Russell Crow portraying Terry. He’s an Oscar winner known for serious dramatic roles, as well as badass, visceral action. But here he dons the mullet and seems to have a complete blast chewing the scenery. If there’s one thing that we can always count on Saturday Night Live for, it’s the opportunities to see our favorite celebrities make total fools out of themselves.
If you have yet to watch the above video, be sure to check it out and see for yourself how insane Russell Crowe can be. What did you think of the Saturday Night Live sketch?
