TNT Renews Falling Skies For Season 3

Alien invasions of the Earth have done pretty well in the past, both on TV and at the box office, but in recent years we’ve seen less alien programs get as many as five seasons like Earth: Final Conflict and more that have gone the way of The Event or V. Luckily, TNT’s Falling Skies seems to be doing pretty well, garnering roughly 3.95 million total viewers per episode, mostly in the coveted 18-49 demographic. With the Season 2 opener nabbing well over 4 million total viewers, TNT is ready to keep its hit alien invasion show around for a while longer.

On Wednesday, TNT renewed Falling Skies for a third season on the cable network. The move comes as the series is partway through the second season of its hit show, which follow’s Noah Wyle’s character, Tom, and a group of other key Massachusetts militia members as they continually fight off an alien race in the middle of conquering Earth. Each week, the motley crew of fighters attempt to take on small factions of skitters and mechs in order to ensure the survival of the human race. 10-episodes are set to be produced in Season 3.

If you haven’t yet caught the drama, Falling Skies is not too far into its second season yet that you would be totally lost, although the lingo might take a little getting used to. Still if you were a fan of Noah Wyle on E.R. or like high-stakes action adventures, Falling Skies may be the alien invasion drama for you. You can catch the show on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
