Tonight’s big 2-hour season finale of So You Think You Can Dance was like a best of the best of the entire season. In addition to seeing video montages of the final four’s journey through the season, we also got to see footage from the auditions, which to me only served as an unnecessary (but totally fantastic) reminder of why I love this show. It’s all talent. Sure, you get plenty of the no-talent auditioners but the people who are most memorable in this show are the ones who blew our minds with their acts from the first moment they took the stage. Many of those people were present during tonight’s finale as the top twenty dancers reunited on stage for a big group number choreographed by Shane Sparks.
Other filler included a performance by the tween-favorite boy-band, The Jonas Brothers. Robert Muraine and Philip Chbeeb battled against one another to see who’s poppin’ and lockin’ skills were the most buck. The majority of the judges chose Robert as the winner. Debbie Allen’s dance students took the stage for a fabulous tap routine. Nigel participated in that one and proved that in addition to having opinions, the man’s got some serious moves. Mary performed a saucy latin number that was equally as great as Nigel's performance. The episode also included various encore performances from throughout the season. The judges chose their favorites, which meant that we got to see some of the best routines this year. I don’t care that I’ve watched and rewatched many of these routines on Youtube over the course of the season, it was still great to see the dancers re-perform them. Usually by the time the first hour is up, I’m staring at the clock and wishing they’d just get on with the results but such was not the case tonight. This has been such a great season with so many excellent routines that it made this extended, drawn-out results show fly by.
While four remained, only one could win. Courtney was the eliminated first and accepted her defeat with the same charm and charisma we’ve seen from her all season. To my surprise, Katee was cut after her but Cat announced that because Katee was the top vote-getter of the girls, she won $50,000. Much deserved. It came down to Joshua and Twitch and while I know my SYTYCD co-recapper Dustin was pulling for Twitch, of these two I wanted to see Joshua win this. In the end though, both guys are fantastic and will surely go places with their talent but America chose Joshua as their favorite dancer this season. If you’re a fan of Joshua, you’ll get to see him in 3D when the Adam Shankman produced film Step Up: 3D hits theaters.
So what do you think? Are you happy Josh won or do you think Twitch, Katee and/or Courtney were robbed? Jump for joy or scream and rant in the comments section below!

Not only am I impressed with the fact that is it only 10:58 pm and you've already written this article, but I couldn't agree more with your opinions. I'd be the last person to watch American Idol, but I started getting into SYTYCD during the second season when I saw Travis. What a great dancer to watch ! I've been a fan of the show ever since. I too was amazed when Katee got called. Courtney is a doll !! Her dad must be so proud ! And, as for Joshua, power to ya brother !! I've been a fan of his since the very beginning It was so obvious how much this whole experience meant to him, and I was happy to see him win.
I was rooting for Katee because not only was she good, she went to my school. I am happy that Katee left with some type of prize. She should be proud. BUT I am very excieted that Josh won. He brings into this competition some hope and insperation for people who don't have all the "experience" that is needed to become professional. He is an amazing dancer and I wish both him and Katee the best of luck! I will be seeing Step Up in 3D!!!!!
I LOVED all 4 dancers. Courtney and Twitch had spirit and were entertaining, althought Katee and Joshua were just "all around" amazing.
I am so glad Joshua won....
I am SOOO happy that Josh won! I have been rooting for him since day one when he performed NO AIR with Katie. He is the best, and yet so humble. Twitch is good, but Josh is EXCELLENT. I had the DVR set to tape the finale, and my husband changed the F**KING channel! He ended up erasing it, and I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed!!!! I am still mad about it, and will go to bed mad at him. I know that I am 35 years old, but I threw a tantrum. My 15 year old son was asking why I was so upset, but I have NEVER missed an episode. Life goes on, but it still sucks!! CONGRATS JOSH...you deserved it.
I LOVE THIS SHOW AND WILL REMEMBER THIS SEASON FOR LIFE. IF THERE COULD HAVE BEEN TWO FIRST PLACES, JOSH AND KATIE WOULD HAVE WALKED OUT TOPS TOGETHER, THEY SURE DANCED GOOD TOGETHER. HOWEVER, GO JOSH AND KATIE SPEND THE BUCKS WISELY, CONTINUE YOUR DREAMS, DANCING LOVE YOU BOTH.
After 10:10, I started trying to vote for Katie and it
was busy, busy, busy..........................................
I tried contestants #'s 1,2, and 4 and got through the
first time, therefore they were definitely getting fewer
calls.
After about 45 minutes, Katie's line/lines were open about
50% of the time.
Wouldn't it be ironic if that test vote I gave to Joshua put him over
the top??
Katie, like John Kerry, should have demanded a recount.
P.S. Mary Murphy looked like a caricature from "Beetlejuice" while
dancing out there--------
and thank god Mia didn't insist upon tripping the light fantastic, cuz
the chandeliers mightn't have stayed in place.
advice--if you're gonna stay in the dance field, keep your body in good
enough shape such that you don't have to wear mumu's (or are they
moomoo's??)
Congrats to Joshua whom I was rooting for from the beginning. He is truly naturally gifted by God, has a great personality and can he dance with passion. I was also hoping that there was a tie so that he and Katie could share the top prize, she is amazingly graceful and passionate. Prehaps there could be a favourite couple next year. I was happy also to see the judges show their stuff, not bad. I am looking forward to the next round.
Kidding. Honestly, when we got down to the final four, I would have been happy with any of them winning. As much as I wanted Twitch to win, I really expected Joshua to take it; he's the superior dancer, even if I'm more entertained by Twitch.
I was also impressed by how great of a sport Twitch was, instantly celebrating for Joshua instead of sulking over his loss.
Katie should have won, As Nigel says she lit up the stage with her talent. she is a very versatile dancer with style , Dancing is nott jumping and running across the stage, and dancing is not how strong you are that is good for a CIRCUS. Well if that is the case in the future the less strong ,males having a slim body will not have a chance
Katee and Twitch were by far the best, and I really DO think Twitch was robbed. He, unlike every other contestant who has been voted off, wasn't even allowed to say anything after Joshua was declared the winner. He was just whisked away immediately. The others were given a chance to say what being on the show meant to them, and we were given the thrill of seeing some of their earlier routines. We got to hear ZIP from Twitch. A SHAME! Didn't anyone notice that almost all the favorite routines were with the spectacular Twitch. If it was just that they ran out of time, that was criminal...they should have allowed him his 2-3 minutes to speak and review his work. Everyone else got that privilege.
It was impossible to choose between Twitch and Katee, and I was flabbergasted to see her lose. They were both brilliant, and next year there should be a favorite male and female dancer. Each offers such different aspects to the art of Dance. Both Twitch and Katee proved they could dance absolutely ANY kind of dance style magnificently. For me, beyond a doubt, they were the winners. I could see both of them in leading roles on Broadway, and my goodness, wouldn't Twitch just be a most magnificent 007!!
America, you got it wrong.
