From the minds that gave us Broad City comes Time Traveling Bong, which is exactly what it sounds like (and I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was on the nose). Check out this trailer, which gives you everything that you never knew you wanted.
Finally, a comedy for stoners! Well, another one, anyway. This looks seriously amazing and crazy, and it’s exactly what it needs to be. It's like Bill and Ted if they actually admitted they smoked, and amped up to 11. This three-night miniseries was created by Broad City collaborators Ilana Glazer, Paul W. Downs, and Lucia Aniello, with Glazer directing. Glazer and Downs star as two stoner cousins who get their time-traveling powers from a special bong. But after the bong is broken, the two will bounce throughout history, looking for a way home while trying not to destroy all of time.
It looks like the miniseries will be traveling to a bunch of different time periods, starting with a very The Witch-like pilgrim setting and then moving onto the Sixties, Ancient Greece, prehistoric times and what looks to be the future. There are a lot of quick bits and jokes whizzing by in this trailer, but keen eyes will catch some notable parts like pilgrims doing "Gangnam Style"…
Does teaching pilgrims this dance make future society worse or better? Seeing how "Gangnam Style" didn't do us any favors in the present, my guess is worse. Much, much worse. There's also the appearance of what seems to be a young Michael Jackson! He already seems pretty Michael-y with the hair and glove, despite being in his Jackson 5 days. Is this the result of the messed up time stream? Was it "Gangnam Style"?
Then there's the actual time-traveling bong itself, which appears to have some form of instructions written in Kanji on it? I would be immensely happy if they bought that bong from an old Chinese man in his mysterious antique shop from Gremlins. Crossover time!
The almost too-perfect Time Travel Bong will premiere on Comedy Central on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:30 p.m. ET. The second and third installments will then air on Thursday, April 21, and Friday, April 22, at the same airtime.
