Watch Will Ferrell Play An Exotic Animal Expert On Colbert
Last night, CBS did something unprecedented with its post-Super Bowl show. The network chose to air The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the slot, rather than a scripted comedy or drama. It was the first time a network has chosen to give the slot to late night since the big game was televised, and of course, Stephen Colbert signed on a slew of big names to be in the episode. Our favorite? Will Ferrell, playing an exotic animal expert. You can check it out, below.
After the late night host and the comedian exchange pleasantries and talk a bit about Super Bowl 50, Stephen Colbert finally gets around to asking why Will Ferrell is wearing some pretty slick-looking khaki gear and carrying a rifle. According to Ferrell, he noticed that The Late Show host didn’t actually have an animal expert yet, and so he's decided to give the gig a go. Forget Zoolander 2, this bit is amazing.
There are a lot of exotic animals out there and Will Ferrell is clearly equipped to deal with ‘em, first bringing out the world’s most adorable kitten. Her name is Mulan, and according to Will Ferrell “she’s a short-spined Peruvian mongoose” not to mention a “highly endangered species.” She looks remarkably mongoose-like to me… what do you think?
The next animal Ferrell brings out is a "Mongolian bush tiger" who looks remarkably like a guinea pig. His name is Kayak, and when he is full grown he’ll be able to take down a "full-grown moose." What an animal expert Will Ferrell attains to be.
The whole time Will Ferrell goes off on his animal expert tangent, Stephen Colbert tries to get him back on topic and talking about Zoolander 2, which is out on February 12. Instead, we get more animal musings, but really, I think we’ve all seen what we need to see from the Zoolander 2 promos, as the studio has dropped elaborate poop jokes and some upcoming cameos, not to mention the full trailer for the sequel film.
I’m not sure if CBS’ bid to run The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as its post-Super Bowl series will pay off in the long run, but last night’s episode was pretty incredible, and President Obama and Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly both made special appearances on the episode, as well. If you didn’t stick around for the special episode, you can catch it over at CBS' site.
