7 Best Black Friday VPN Deals – According To Someone Who Used To Test Providers

If you're a longtime reader of CinemaBlend's streaming guides, you may notice I often promote the use of a VPN alongside many of our How to Watch guides. That's because it's incredibly useful when it comes to traveling and maintaining access to the streaming services you pay good money to be subscribed to – something I learnt when writing about VPNs when previously working at TechRadar and Tom's Guide. If your subscription to a VPN is set to expire, or you want to see what all the fuss is about, there's no better time than now to try with plenty of Black Friday VPN deals live as the day itself finally arrives today.

A piece of software that's primary function is to better secure your online connection, the use that'll interest CinemaBlend readers most is its ability to bypass content blocked by geo-restrictions. For instance, if you're working overseas or on vacation, you can connect to a VPN with servers based around the world, and make your device appear just about anywhere. So if you want to watch something through your Max subscription – say, the new Dune TV spin-off – you can connect to a US server with a VPN and avoid geo-restrictions. Equally, a VPN can unblock different Netflix libraries, or ensure expats in the States can watch UK TV online from anywhere, for instance.

The Black Friday VPN deals for 2024 have already begun to drop, with the top provider I always recommend alongside our How To Watch guides, NordVPN, offering a significant 74% saving alongside an additional 3 months being tagged onto its 2-year plans. For those after something more affordable, Surfshark always wins out as the best value for money, and is now down to $1.99 a month from $4.98 on its own 2-year plan.

It's a little outside of the box, but a VPN could very well be one of the best Black Friday entertainment deals for avid movie and TV watchers. Especially if you consider partnering it with this year's Black Friday streaming deals that are soon to be announced.

Best Black Friday VPN Deals For Streaming

All VPNs are tested by our sister site, Tom's Guide, who put the best VPNs through their paces, including testing their effectiveness in unblocking streaming services. While there are deals on a ton of VPN providers, I'll only list the deals for those services that offer the most seamless unblocking experience for CinemaBlend readers.

NordVPN: $11.59 $2.99 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 3 Months FreeSave 74%

NordVPN: $11.59 $2.99 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 3 Months Free
Save 74%
- NordVPN features on all CinemaBlend's How to Watch guides. This is the VPN I use when streaming and proves the most reliable when unblocking streaming services without compromising on speed, which is obviously pretty important. Nobody wants the dreaded buffer icon. It's also the #1 VPN according to Tom's Guide, which tested Nord's unblocking prowess across major streaming providers around the world.

Surfshark: $4.98 $1.99 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 4 Months FreeSave 60%

Surfshark: $4.98 $1.99 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 4 Months Free
Save 60% - Surfshark comes in at number 2 for Tom's Guide as the overall best VPN and also its best streaming VPN guide. It's a great little VPN, especially intuitive if you're new to the world of VPNs with a seamless, cool interface across devices. Of course, most important of all for us, it's also very good at unblocking and a more affordable option if Nord is a bit steep for you. It also offers unlimited connections.

ExpressVPN: $12.95 $4.99 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 6 Months FreeSave 61%

ExpressVPN: $12.95 $4.99 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 6 Months Free
Save 61%
- Keen readers of CinemaBlend's How to Watch guides might recall ExpressVPN as the one I recommended for unblocking. To be clear, it's still very good at unblocking. NordVPN just beats it to the punch as an all-round more secure, better performing service – but it's very, very close. This is the first time ExpressVPN has ever offered a Black Friday VPN deal, bringing its monthly rate into the wheelhouse of its competitors as the notoriously pricier service. It's really reliable for unblocking and it's very easy to use.

Proton VPN: $9.99 $2.99 A Month On 2 Year PlanSave 70%

Proton VPN: $9.99 $2.99 A Month On 2 Year Plan
Save 70%
- Proton VPN's ability to unblock streaming services is good – in particular, Tom's Guide describes its ability to unblock Netflix libraries around the globe as "first-class". This Black Friday VPN deal is definitely worth checking out, then. Leading with its initiative to offer a secure tool, unlike the above, it goes above and beyond for full transparency with its users as an open-source platform.

Other Black Friday VPN Deals

FastestVPN: $23 Lifetime Plan With Code BFCM24Save 93%

FastestVPN: $23 Lifetime Plan With Code BFCM24
Save 93%
- Get sorted with a VPN for life with FastestVPN's ridiculously cheap Lifetime plan. Down to $30 in this Black Friday VPN deal, use the code BFCM24 to get a further saving and pay a one-off payment of $22.90. It earns 3.5 stars from Tom's Guide, highlighting its decent speeds (with the caveat it's not the fastest like its branding might imply), and user-friendly design. The reason it's not up with the best of the VPN deals? It's not that great at unblocking streaming services. While you'll be able to access regional services like BBC iPlayer in the uK and 9Now in Australia, it was unable to access Netflix.

Hide.me: $2.29 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 3 Months FreeSave 77%

Hide.me: $2.29 A Month On 2 Year Plan + 3 Months Free
Save 77%
- Hide.me isn't a bad option this Black Friday if you're after a VPN that can unblock streaming services. While it's performance has been hit and miss in recent rounds of testing, Tom's Guide saw a perfect run this time around, able to access Netflix in the US and UK (though not as reliable as others that could unblock in Australia and Japan), as well as Disney Plus, Hulu, and YouTube. A pretty appealing monthly rate in this deal, I'd still encourage you to go for Surfshark, which is even cheaper and more consistently powerful where unblocking is concerned.

Privado: $1.48 A Month On 2 Year Plans + 3 Months FreeSave 87%

Privado: $1.48 A Month On 2 Year Plans + 3 Months Free
Save 87%
- Tom's Guide described PrivadoVPN's Black Friday deal as great if "you're looking for a VPN that balances speed, unblocking power, and solid security." It's more limited than others, only able to unblock US Netflix. However, it did well elsewhere in unblocking BBC iPlayer, Disney Plus, and other services. It also has a free plan, allowing you to give the service a go before subscribing to its premium version. Note that features like unblocking may only be available on the paid-for version, though.

Partner Your VPN With These Offers On Streaming Services

Peacock: $79.99 $19.99 For 12 Months
Save 75%
- The best way to subscribe to Peacock this Black Friday is definitely through its annual plan deal. You benefit from the 75% saving that much longer (12 months rather than 6). While you will be paying (a meagre) $20 upfront, it does work out as $1.66 a month – 33 cents cheaper than subscribing on a monthly basis. Hey, there's nothing wrong with being that frugal!

Peacock: $7.99 $1.99 A Month For 6 MonthsSave 75%

Peacock: $7.99 $1.99 A Month For 6 Months
Save 75%
- Admittedly, this particular Black Friday deal from Peacock isn't as good as last year's. Last year allowed you to pay $1.99 a month for a whole 12 months before defaulting to the standard rate. That said, if there are things you want to watch right now before cancelling, this gives you plenty of time. And a 75% discount isn't to be sniffed at. You can easily binge through new hits including The Day of the Jackal and High Potential, as well as watching the reboot Twisters.

Should I Wait To Sign Up To A Black Friday VPN Deal?

While there are likely to be other providers launching Black Friday VPN deals, the three providers I always recommend and list at the bottom of CinemaBlend's How to Watch guides (NordVPN, Surfshark, and ExpressVPN) have already launched their Black Friday discounts. Unlike hardware, that can fluctuate and dip even further in price as Black Friday proper draws closer, VPNs are very unlikely to go down any more in price.

It's worth noting I haven't included all VPN providers who have launched Black Friday deals here. The likes of FastestVPN and Hide.me have also launched promotions for the period, but as these aren't regarded as highly by Tom's Guide, our sister site that tests VPNs, in terms of streaming performance, I've chosen not to include them here.

Which Is The Best Black Friday VPN Deal?

Personally, I'm a big fan of NordVPN. There's a reason it features on most – if not all – of CinemaBlend's How to Watch guides. It's reliable in its ability to unblock streaming services all around the world, it's one of the most secure VPN according to Tom's Guide, and it sits in a nice middle-ground between affordable and more expensive VPNs. Now with a 74% saving this Black Friday and 3 months free tagged onto the end of your 2-year plan, it just got even more great value for money.

Alternatively, my second in command would be Surfshark. This is a great one for VPN newbies. It's interface is super intuitive and straight-forward, and the design is really cool if aesthetically pleasing software if your kryptonite. Already deemed one of the cheapest, best quality VPN, it has just got even cheaper, now costing as little as $1.99 a month in its Black Friday deal, with 4 additional months free on its 2-year plan.
