101 Dalmations Go Platinum In March
I absolutely love Disney’s “Platinum DVD” releases, especially when the company gives their classic movies the Platinum treatment. Not only is it fun to see the old movies restored to near-perfection, but the supplemental information is almost always a good example of why DVD is a great format for film lovers.
Next year Disney has slated the classic 101 Dalmations for a two-disc Platinum release, hitting shelves March 4th with a ton of bonus materials. The film contains some of Disney’s most memorable moments, from the villainous Cruela De Vil to the numerous close-call escapes of the puppies as they attempt to get back home. For my money, the live-action film never touched the animated picture’s success.
101 Dalmations was also one of the last films to be personally supervised by Walt Disney, and the DVD contains a look at his touch, correspondence between Walt and Dalmations author Dodie Smith, and tons more. Take a look:

Go behind the scenes with its creators to find out about everything - including the technological innovation of the Xerox process in animation.
- Cruella De Vil: Drawn To Be Bad - Inspired by flamboyant actress Tallulah Bankhead, Cruella De Vil has become a villain that movie fans love to hate. Marc Davis, an animation legend and one of Disney’s immortal “Nine Old Men” reveals how this iconic character came to be.
