Apocalypse Now - The Complete Dossier
Ah, I love the smell of double dipping in the morning. The classic, Oscar-nominated movie Apocalypse Now is up to its third or fourth incarnation on DVD. I guess that’s all right as long as the producers keep giving fans a reason to keep buying it though.
First we had Apocalypse Now with little to no extras. Then we got Apocalypse Now Redux, the restored, revisited version of the movie by director Francis Ford Coppola. So now what? How about “Apocalypse Now - The Complete Dossier,” which will be hitting DVD shelves August 15th.
This time around the release is a two disc edition featuring both the original assembly of the movie and the Redux version. Francis Ford Coppolla adds a commentary track to both versions of the movie and reveals twelve deleted scenes that still haven’t made it back into the movie. Add in a retrospective, a cast members reunion, and you’ve got quite a set. I don’t know if it’s a “Complete Dossier,” but it’s pretty close.
After all, we have to leave something behind to be covered in a future edition, right?
