Babel Goes Two Disc For Collectors
Babel was one of those Oscar-nominated films that made me question the mentality of the Academy members. The two hour movie includes multiple stories that lack cohesion, and any kind of underlying theme or idea seems to be completely lost. Equally as disappointing was the movie’s bare bones DVD release. I suggested in my DVD review for the movie that this might be because Paramount intended a better release a few months down the road. Well, it’s a few months later and, sure enough, here comes a 2-disc Collector’s Edition.
Ironic for a movie titled Babel, the communcation on the upcoming Collector’s Edition, which hits shelves on September 25th, has not been great. Right now Paramount has only provided the release date for the second DVD edition for this movie this year. Nothing else has been communicated… unless you take into consideration that we know there will be two discs.
I can’t say I’ll recommend anyone rushing out to pick up this release, but we will try to provide more information about bonus material and artwork as we get it.
