New Babylon 5: Lost Tales Pics And Story Details!
I’m frankly shocked that Rafe hasn’t already posted about this. I’m a huge Babylon 5 fan, but Rafe is an even bigger one, and he’s usually the guy I rely on for all my JMS updates. Hang in there, I suspect he’ll have even more to add on the new B5 direct-to-video movies later on.
But for now, the news is that principle photography has wrapped on the new Babylon 5: Lost Tales movies we told you about a few weeks ago here. Now that shooting is over, series creator J. Michael Straczynski has let leak a few more details on what the two Lost Tales he’s filmed will be about. In a post found on Babylon5Scripts.com by Filmstalker he says this:
“This first DVD, entitled "Voices in the Dark," covers the same 72 hour period of time as Sheridan travels on board a Presidential Cruiser en route to Babylon 5 from Minbar for a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Interstellar Alliance. One part of the story follows Sheridan as he picks up an unexpected visitor on the edge of Centauri space, Prince Regent Dius Vintari, and a warning about what will come afterward delivered by the techno-mage, Galen. The other part of the story is set aboard Babylon 5, as Colonel Lochley summons a priest from Earth space to deal with a problem that may have dark supernatural overtones. The two parts of the greater story intersect at certain key plot and thematic points, so that they overlap and complement each other while telling separate, but simultaneous, stories.”
The really interesting revelation here is that Lochley and Sheridan’s stories are contained within a single movie. Previous announcements made it sound as if we were getting two separate movies. One about each character, just released on the same disc. I like this idea a lot better. Lochley is a replacement character and as such doesn’t deserve her own movie. But as the flipside of a Sheridan movie, I’m alright with that.
Along with that announcement, JMS has set up a temporary web page where he’s dropped a few set pics from his personal collection. To see them all, click here.
