Babylon 5 Lost Tales Trailer And Footage!
It’s not often I get excited about a direct-to-dvd release, but in this case it’s warranted. J. Michael Straczynski has been trying to get a movie version of his popular ‘Babylon 5’ TV series up and running for over a decade now, and it just never happened. Now though, DVD has given him the opportunity to give the show’s fans something new at last with the impending release of ‘Babylon 5: The Lost Tales’ on DVD.
The first installment, focused primarily on John Sheridan is due out on July 31st, and Warner Brothers has just released the first teaser trailer for ‘Lost Tales’ online. Simply put, it’s fantastic. When that B5 score swells, all the great memories the show brought me came rushing back, and hearing Sheridan’s voice on screen, even if it’s a computer screen, just feels right.
You can watch it over on the new B5 Warner Brothers site. Once you’re there, click MAIN MENU, then click on the Babylon 5: The Lost Tales tab to start it playing. Or, just click play on this embed:
But that’s not the only new footage available for the film. Straczynsi has launched a Lost Tales MySpace page, where he’s posted a random video intro to The Lost Tales. Actually, I’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to be. He’s labeled it as a “temp” video, but whatever it is it’s utterly stirring. The footage starts with the destruction of Babylon 5, then races back in time while the late great Andreas Katsulas as G’Kar provides a voice over. If you’re a B5 fan, it’s the kind of thing that just might bring you to tears. Watch it and get teary-eyed by clicking play on the embed below:
