Bring It On Again, Again, Again, Again, and Again
What’s the hardest part about keeping a film franchise going? Coming up with decent subtitles. It’s been nine years since the ladies of Bring It On did their thing, and since then we’ve seen Bring It On Again, Bring It On: All or Nothing, and Bring It On: In It to Win It. Now it’s time for Bring It On: Fight to the Finish. Brace yourselves, because the latest edition of this cheerleading franchise will be back-flipping into stores on DVD and Blu-ray on September 1st.
Grammy-nominated singer Christina Milian leads the franchise’s fifth installment as Lina Cruz, a talented cheerleader with some Latin and hip-hop flava. Lina’s dream of winning the Spirit Championships is nearly ruined when her parents decide to move to Malibu. She’s forced to leave her best friends and talented squad behind for a new school with a struggling cheerleading team. Determined to keep her hopes alive, Lina tries to whip Malibu Vista High’s team into shape so they can take down Avery (Rachele Smith) and the award-winning Jaguar squad.
Fight to the Finish follows the typical Bring It On formula. If you’ve enjoyed the backstabbing, budding relationships, and stunts from the previous films, this one shouldn’t disappoint. With a Grammy-nominated singer in the lead role, popular music-video director Billie Woodruff behind the lens, and Lady GaGa, Kat DeLuna, and The Veronicas featured on the soundtrack, Fight to the Finish is sure to have some pop-music zest. You can enjoy the impressive soundtrack with some stellar video, because this release marks the first time a Bring It On film will be available in Blu-ray hi-fef. Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Beacon Communications are celebrating this milestone big time with a nice selection of bonus material. For $39.98 you’ll get the film, as well as deleted scenes, a look at the cast learning the cheer routines in “Practice Round,” a making-of featurette, “On Set with Christina Milian,” and an episode of Mun2’s reality show The Chicas Project called “Flip This.” You’ll also have access to BD-Live. The DVD version of Fight to the Finish comes with all of the bonus material from the BD version except for the BD-Live element. That one will cost you $29.98.
If one round of Bring it On isn’t enough for you, you might want to opt for the Bring it On All-Star Pack, which includes Bring It On, Bring It On: All or Nothing, and Bring It On: Fight to the Finish. I don’t quite understand why they wouldn’t just release a set containing all five films, but for $39.98 this is a pretty good deal.
