Brittany Murphy's Last Movie Coming To Blu-Ray And DVD This August
Last year Brittany Murphy followed Heath Ledger into a club nobody wants to be a member of: promising talents that died young. Sure, her resume had some questionable choices along the way, but I'll always remember her fondly for her roles in movies like Sin City and Girl, Interrupted. Now Anchor Bay Entertainment is releasing her final movie: the psychological thriller Abandoned hits Blu-ray and DVD August 24th. We've got the trailer below to give you a sneak peak.
The storyline is straight out of the standard Hollywood playbook: a character forced to question their sanity when their reality starts coming unfurled. In this case, Murphy stars as Mary Walsh, a young woman who accompanies her boyfriend (a puffy-looking Dean Cain) on a routine trip to the hospital for a minor procedure. When she comes back to take him home, however, the staff insists they've never heard of him. When Mary continues to be unreasonable in her insistence that her boyfriend is not actually a figment of her imagination, she finds herself at odds with a psychiatrist (Peter Bogdanovich) who declares her mentally unstable.
From the look of things, Abandoned could go either way: unremarkable fluff or guilty pleasure. At the very least, it's a more dignified final film than, say, Street Fighter (poor Raul Julia...).
