Can You Keep A Secret? Breach Is On The Way
Breach, starring Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillippe, is one of the better movies to arise from the February funk. So why did so few people see it? Beats me … they were too busy shelling out hard-earned money to see Ghost Rider. Or they heard the words “political thriller” and expected a snoozefest. Either way, get redemption when Breach comes to DVD on June 12.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the little-seen film, which is based on the true story of Robert Hanssen, the biggest, backstabbing traitor in FBI history. It’s written and directed by Billy Ray, who brought us the surprisingly good Shattered Glass and yanked a great performance out of Hayden Christensen. Breach has a similar vibe, in that it’s well acted and takes its time building to the eventual, well-worth-it climax. It’s an intelligent spy thriller for people who don’t like intelligent spy thrillers.
The DVD includes the following bonus material:
--Breaching the Truth: an inside look into the life of Robert Hanssen and how the film came to be.
--“The Mole”: an in-depth profile of Hanssen, which originally aired on “Dateline” in 2001.
-- Feature commentary with writer and director Billy Ray and former FBI operative Eric O’Neill.
-- More than 18 minutes of deleted and alternate scenes.
