Can't Wait For Can't Hardly Wait On Blu-Ray
Looks like the beer has yet to go bad at this party. The 1998 classic, Can’t Hardly Wait is coming to Blu-ray. Now you’ll be able to celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary with the gang from Huntington Hills High at the most banging party of the year in high definition.
Everyone plays a role. Preston (Ethan Embry) obsesses over one half of the school’s ex-power couple, Amanda (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who is busy dodging her ex, pigheaded jock Mike Dexter (Peter Facinelli), while he is being secretly pursued by supernerd William (Charlie Korsmo) who is out to get revenge for years of torment. Could they cram anymore high school stereotypes into this flick? Yes! Denise (Lauren Ambrose) is Preston’s good pal who reluctantly attends the party and finds herself locked in a bathroom with childhood buddy Kenny (Seth Green), who thinks he’s black and calls himself “Special K.” Sex, alcohol and music; sounds like a damn good graduation party to me.
What could make this party even better? Seeing it on Blu-ray, of course! Whereas I don’t see how Can’t Hardly Wait could really take advantage of the pristine picture offered by the Blu-ray format, I don’t really care. I suspect the film’s fan base won’t be looking forward to seeing the color palette pop off the screen or even the 16-bit Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. These grown-up-kids want the extras and this disc is full of them. You’ll get original commentary with the filmmaker and the cast and well as commentary from the filmmaker and the cast 10 years later. There’s three featurettes; “Huntington High Class of ’98,” “The Life of the Party” and “Can’t Hardly Wait: The Making of a Teen Classic.” There’s also deleted scenes, Special K’s 411, the “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” music video and the “You Know You’re ‘90’s If …” trivia game, which is BD Live compatible. The only thing that’s missing is Melissa Joan Hart’s Huntington High yearbook. Well, that and a Lovebürger t-shirt. (I actually really want one of those.)
It’s almost time to blast Guns N Roses because Can’t Hardly Wait on Blu-ray hits stores on September 30th. You can grab one for $28.95; a $28.95 I’m looking forward to spending.
