Click Here To "Like": The Social Network Hits Blu-Ray And DVD In Less Than A Month
Since Facebook is the go-to timewaster of our modern era, it was really just a matter of time until somebody got around to making a movie about it. Which begs the question: how much time did the screenwriters of The Social Network waste on Facebook when they were instead supposed to be writing about Facebook? We'll probably never know, anymore than we'll know why they decided to make a Magic 8 Ball movie, but one thing is for sure: The Social Network is coming to Blu-ray and DVD January 11th, 2011.
This date is, not coincidentally, two weeks before the Oscar nominations are announced. Good news for anybody who, like me, still hasn't seen it. The good news is that both the Blu-ray and DVD versions will include two commentaries, one with director David Fincher and the second with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. If you opt for Blu-ray, you'll get a lot more: an entire second disc that includes the feature-length documentary "How Did They Ever Make a Movie of Facebook?", the Ruby Skye VIP Room: Multi-Angle Scene Breakdown, six featurettes (Angus Wall, Kirk Baxter and Ren Klyce on Post; Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and David Fincher on the Score; In the Hall of the Mountain King: Reznor's First Draft; Swarmatron; and Jeff Cronenweth and David Fincher on the Visuals), and more. The Blu-ray will list for $34.95 and the DVD will run you $28.96.
