Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs Pours Onto DVD In January
Hopefully you’ve digested your Thanksgiving dinner, because Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on January 5th. You actually don’t even have to wait that long to see the movie in the comfort of your own home. If you purchase a networked BRAVIA HDTV or Blu-ray Disc player anytime from now until January 4th, you’ll get a free 24-hour rental of the film. If you’ve already got a BRAVIA HDTV, you can rent the film for one month for $24.95. The rental is Internet-based, so you’ll need a device with networking capabilities.
Sound ridiculous? I think so, too. If you’re buying a $400 device, the least Sony could do is give you the damn movie free for the full month. Unless you’re jumping on this deal because you’re planning to pick up a new TV anyway, just wait until January for the BD and DVD.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs comes from the beloved children’s book by Ron and Judi Barrett. It’s about an inventor named Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) whose creations have been far from successful. When one of Flint’s newest machines spins out of control, he’s sure he’ll be in major trouble. Then, something amazing happens; Flint’s invention actually works! Everyone rejoices at the sight of raining ice cream and cheeseburgers, but soon Flint realizes the machine must be stopped or it’ll smother the entire town in heaps of food.
So, forget the whole 24-hour rental thing. Just pick up the one-disc DVD for $28.96, the two-disc DVD for $34.95, or the Blu-ray/DVD combo for $39.95. They all come with decent selections of bonus material and don’t expire after 30 days.
