The DVD Blend Departs
Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.
Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:
The Departed (Two-Disc Special Edition)
I’m going against my usual policy and putting a film I haven’t seen in the featured spot this week, mostly because I’m simply embarrassed to have not seen this one yet. Let’s be honest. Lots of Oscar nominations make the release timely, especially since Scorsese still needs a win. As with most doubled up releases, the worthwhile version will be the two disc special edition, but if money’s tight or, like me, you haven’t seen the movie to actually make up your mind whether you want to shell out more dough for the extra version. Pick this one up, check it out, and cross your fingers for Marty to win on February 25th.

Worth mentioning: | |||
Row 1 - Cell 0 | Half Nelson - Speaking of Oscar nominations, Ryan Gosling really surprised me with his Best Actor nomination for this film While it’s gotten great press, I fully expected it to be missed by this time of year. Thankfully it got attention, making this another great flick to watch in preparation for Oscar night. | Row 1 - Cell 2 | Infamous - I never would have thought of Truman Capote as such an interesting figure. Not only has he been the subject of one film, but now two as Infamous takes on the same story told in last year’s Capote. Which is better? I can’t say for sure, but this one didn’t get Oscar’s attention… |
