The DVD Blend Gets Idiotic
Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.
Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:
Idiocracy
Office Space wasn’t always the classic comedy we all know and love. Originally it was a box office bomb that was mismarketed by Fox. It was only later, on home video (and subsequently through Comedy Central airings) that the movie found fame. I expect the same to be true of Idiocracy, the second Mike Judge film to receive that sort of treatment through the idiocracy of Fox. The film was barely released last year to theatres, so now is really your first chance to see Judge’s story of an idiot frozen in time and reawakened at a point where he ends up being the smartest man on the planet. Sadly, because the movie didn’t have much going for it, Fox has been tight with bonus materials, with only deleted scenes being advertised. Still, unless you were in one of the lucky dozen or so locations to actually get a shot at the film, this is your chance to get in early on Judge’s next cult classic.
Worth mentioning: | |||
Row 1 - Cell 0 | The Illusionist - Edward Norton’s story of an illusionist was overshadowed by the Christian Bale/Christopher Nolan The Prestige. Norton’s tale utilizes practical illusions when possible and is, at its heart, a love story with a historical background. | Row 1 - Cell 2 | I Trust You To Kill Me - For those convinced that Jack Bauer can do anything, here’s added proof. This “rockumentary” features Kiefer Sutherland as a music producer following rock band Rocco Deluca and the Burden around on their European tour. |
