DVD Blend Loves The Smell Of Napalm In The Morning
Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.

Apocalypse Now: The Complete DossierI have a confession to make: I’ve never seen this classic movie. I know it shows up on everyone’s top movies of all time lists, but somehow it’s never made its way onto my television. All of that changes with this “complete dossier” collection. Not only is the original cut of the movie included, but the more recent recut of the movie, titled Apocalypse Now: Redux, is also included. On top of that there are more deleted scenes, commentary tracks by Francis Ford Coppola, and more. All that’s lacking (and sorely so) is the acclaimed documentary “Heart of Darkness” that accompanied the previous version of Redux. I guess we can’t have everything.Click to puchase Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier |

Row 1 - Cell 0 | The Simpsons: Season 8 - Some people will tell you by this season “The Simpsons” stopped being funny. I don’t subscribe much to that. While this season definitely marks some of the show’s stranger moments (Johnny Cash as a hallucinogenic coyote?) it also contains one of my all time favorite episodes: the musical “Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala-Annoyed-Grunt-cious” You just have to love creative lyrics like “Shut up Flanders, Okey-dokily-doo.” | Row 1 - Cell 2 | RV - Robin Williams seems to have moved on to a point in his career where people are more interested seeing him in series roles like Insomnia and One Hour Photo than in the zany comedies. Despite that, RV got surprisingly good reviews for a movie I expected pretty bad things from. If, like me, you missed it in theaters, here’s a second chance to take a trip with the Munro family. |
