The DVD Blend Says You've Gotta Check Out Spaced
Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big release of the week. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.
Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:
Spaced: The Complete Series
I don’t know how the BBC series Spaced has managed to elude so much of the American viewing audience, particularly me. The show is clever on a level so many people appreciate from our own shows, making frequent allusions to pop culture and sci-fi favorites like 2001. Yet, it’s not the cleverness that makes the series something almost brilliant - it’s the fact that hidden within all of those Family Guy / Simpsons style references is a pretty good story about two people whose lives are a mess and who are doing the best they can to fix them. There’s no doubt that Spaced will make you laugh, particularly if you liked Shaun of the Dead and/or Hot Fuzz, both of which came from the same creative team. The question is (skip to the end) whether you’ll find part of yourself in Tim or Daisy or any of the other motley crew to be found within these fourteen episodes.
