Dark Knight Back In Top Sales Spot
The week of Christmas is usually a weaker time for DVD sales. I guess, in theory, everyone already has everything purchased that they are giving as gifts. With only a few notable releases in stores, it’s easy to see why The Dark Knight would regain the top spot in video sales for the week - a hefty accomplishment for a movie in its third week of release.
Universal was the studio behind the two releases, a move that paid off for them according to THR. Burn After Reading and Death Race opened in the second and third places respectively in video sales, and actually took the top two spots in video rentals. Add in Mama Mia and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and Universal had four of the top six movies in sales and rentals.
