A December Entry In Nanny Diaries
I always find it interesting when DVDs are announced that are clearly trying so hard it looses some of its purpose. The Nanny Diaries looks to be one of those releases based on the press release, although we’ll have to wait until the movie’s release date to see how it comes across in the final package.
The story of a young girl seeking her own identity after getting caught up on a socialite family (and falling in love with their wealthy neighbor) is getting a relatively light DVD treatment at first glance. While there may only be a few extras, it seems there are some interesting marketing choices amidst what is included.
The disc includes a Blooper Reel, which I would expect from a comedy like this based on the trailers. Interestingly, the reel is “presented by L’Oreal Paris.” For a movie about not getting caught up in a glamorous social world, doesn’t it seem odd to have bonus material sponsored by makeup? Maybe it’s just me, but it does. Of course, to balance that out, the DVD also includes “Confessions from the Original Nannies,” a featurette from the authors of the book. I’m always a fan of including the people involved with the original incarnations of a project, so that really appeals to me. Finally, there’s a making-of featurette as well.
The Nanny Diaries hits DVD on December 4th.
