A Double Dip For Reno 911 The Movie
Reno 911!: Miami – The Movie didn’t exactly fare well in its theatrical run, and it’s DVD release was met with less than stellar reception. We’ve seen the TV show. We’ve seen the movie. We’ve seen the unrated cut of the movie. What could there possibly be left to market on?
Believe it or not, they’ve found something to capitalize on. The creators behind Reno 911! have come up with an alternate “lost version” of the theatrical debut of the series, resulting in a new DVD release, titled Reno 911!: Miami – The Movie - More Busted Than Ever Unrated Cut. Yes, that’s a ridiculously long title, but, then again, this is a pretty ridiculous release.
At the heart of this “More Busted Than Ever” release is the same Unrated Cut you got if you picked up the previous unrated edition. Accompanying that, however, is a 68-minute “Lost Version” of the movie which is being sold as being “how the creators/producers believe the movie should have been seen by audiences.” What, we couldn’t have already gotten that in somewhere in the previous two editions (rated and unrated)? We need a whole other release to justify this barely over an hour version of the movie? Sure it’s got new footage, but it’s still hardly enough to justify a second DVD release on a movie that wasn’t all that popular to begin with.
Reno 911!: Miami – The Movie - More Busted Than Ever Unrated Cut is scheduled for a September 9th release, so at least Fox is waiting over a year from last year’s initial June DVD release. I still say this is absurd, however. Here’s a look at what you can find on the disc, as well as the cover art.
