Exclusive DVD Clip: Forrest Whitaker Plans Bad Things In The Experiment
Head's up, Prison Break fans: that show's creator, Paul Scheuring, is back behind bars again for his latest project. This time it's The Experiment, starring Forrest Whitaker and Adrien Brody in a thriller inspired by the Stanford prison experiment. If that doesn't ring any bells, it occurred back in 1971, when a team of Stanford University researchers thought it would be interesting to lock a bunch of undergrads in a basement, with some of the kids playing the roles of guards and the rest playing the role of prisoners. Human nature kicked in, and before too long the "guards" were embracing their role a little too enthusiastically, humiliating and tormenting the "prisoners." There was a riot by the second day, and things only got worse from there.
The Experiment isn't a straight-up retelling of the Stanford incident, but the influences are clear. It's actually a remake of the 2001 German film Das Experiment. Whitaker and Brody head a cast of men who are chosen to staff a similar experiment, divided into guards and prisoners and offered $14,000 if they make it to the end of the two-week period. Naturally, it doesn't take long for the fertilizer to hit the air-circulation unit. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing The Experiment direct to DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow, September 21st. Since this flick may have flown under your radar, we've got an exclusive clip from the film. Scroll on down below and watch Forrest Whitaker explain why shit's about to get real.
