Get Back In The Saddle With True Grit SE DVD
Love him or hate him, John Wayne is the iconic poster boy for American Westerns. His work with director John Ford yielded some of the genre’s cream-of-the-crop classics, including The Searchers and Stagecoach. And then, of course, there’s True Grit, the Henry Hathaway-directed film that earned Wayne a “yeehaw”-worthy best actor Oscar.
In honor of John Wayne’s would-be 100th birthday (had he not died of cancer in 1979), Paramount is releasing the True Grit: Special Collector’s Edition DVD on May 22. The film is about a fearless Marshall (Wayne) hired by a young girl (Kim Darby) to find out who murdered her father, and to avenge his death. Glen Campbell and Robert Duvall co-star.
The disk contains no special features, but the movie is restored and looking better than ever. Check out the cover art and accompanying photo below.
