Get Behind The Effects Of Babylon 5's Lost Tales
If you haven’t noticed, we’re really looking forward to the upcoming Babylon 5: The Lost Tales DVD release. Lots of us at Cinema Blend are fans of the world that J. Michael Straczynski created and are ready for more.
We’ve shown you cover art, we’ve shown you trailers, but only the CG Society is really getting the in-depth look at the making of The Lost Tales. Fortunately for us, they are sharing and part two of their look at the effects of the DVD is up on their website.
The first part was a nice overlook at the upcoming film and gave some of the details the project entailed. This second part gets a little more in depth, explaining how the teams were divided up, the concerns of short deadlines from a studio that has always brought assignments in on time (6 weeks for 150 effects shots), and the extra level of detail added in by effects artists who were fans of the series and gave up some of their own time off the clock to give a little more.
Most impressive is the description the article gives about the creation of the Docking Bay of Babylon 5 – something that has never been seen before. Instead of cutting things off just outside of camera range, the station now has the fully functional Bay it always should have.
Head over to Part Two of the CG Society Production Focus and check it out for yourself. And don’t forget - Babylon 5: The Lost Tales comes out on DVD on July
