Get The Tissues Ready, Precious Comes Home On March 9th
Did Precious not make it to a theater near you? Well, you’re in luck, because on March 9th Lionsgate Home Entertainment will make it available for you to own on DVD and Blu-ray.
Think you have it rough? Clareece “Precious” Jones (Gabby Sidibe) lives in Harlem with her abusive mother (Mo’Nique), can’t read or write, and is pregnant for the second time by her own father. Even with an immense amount of problems, Precious is rather hopeful and even enrolls in an alternative school that could ultimately help her get a GED.
I highly advise catching Precious in the theater before awards season kicks off, but if you insist on waiting until it’s available to own, that’s fine by me, as long as you see it. Not only is the story overwhelmingly compelling, but so are the performances. I’d put every penny I have on Mo’Nique to win Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards. Sidibe might have a tougher time in the Best Actress category, but that’s not to say she isn’t extraordinary as well.
According to DVD Active, both the DVD and BD will come with a modest selection of bonus material.
- Audio Commentary with Director Lee Daniels
- From Push to Precious
- A Precious Ensemble
- Oprah and Tyler: A Project of Passion
- A Conversation with Author Sapphire Daniels and Director Lee Daniels
- Screen Test: Gadbourney Sidibe
- Fluorescent Beige
The movie is fantastic but won’t be any better in Blu-ray hi-def. Save your 10 bucks and opt for the DVD version for $29.95 rather than the BD for $39.99.
