Go Under The Red Hood With Batman July 27th
The animated DC Universe expands again this July with Batman: Under the Red Hood, coming to Blu-ray and DVD July 27th. DC veteran Judd Winick wrote the script based on his 2005 comic storyline, which pits Bats against the mysterious Red Hood, a villain whose true identity promises to reopen old wounds.
Bruce Timm is yet again in the executive producer’s chair, and Bruce Greenwood (or his voice at least) will be donning the cape and cowl as the Dark Knight. Also along for the ride are Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles as The Red Hood, Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing, John DiMaggio as The Joker, and Jason Isaacs as Ra’s Al Ghul.
In addition to a featurette and a sneak peak at the next direct-to-DVD DC outing, Red Hood will include a new animated short based on DC’s western character Jonah Hex, written by Southern-fried author Joe Lansdale. No surprise as to that character choice, since the live-action Jonah Hex movie hits screens June 18th. So even if that movie sucks, you still might get some quality Hex here in animated form.
As usual, you can choose from Blu-ray ($29.99), two-disc DVD special edition ($24.98), or bare-bones single-disc DVD, and the flick will also be available On Demand and for download. Here are the disc specs, and below those we’ve got the trailer for you. It’s bat-tastic.
