A Grindhouse Reunion Later This Year?
We might not have been waiting for it as long as the long-promised Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, but many fans have held off purchasing Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse pictures until The Weinstein Company did the movies justice and united them in one package like they were released to theaters. It’s not even a question of just wanting the movies together. We want all the gravy that accompanied the movies into theaters - specifically those faux-trailers assembled by people like Rob Zombie and Eli Roth. Good news - the wait may be over later this year.
Our head honcho Josh Tyler managed to get some chat time with Robert Rodriguez at SXSW and the director commented that a Grindhouse release later this year would put the movies back together in the extended double feature they were intended to be. Along with the movies will be those trailers we all crave so much.
Hearing Rodriguez say this is happening later this year offers a lot more hope than I had when it was just Tarantino talking it up. After all, we have been waiting on that Whole Bloody Affair combo ever since Kill Bill made its theatrical debut, and there’s been no indication we’ll ever see it. I can’t think of much Rodriguez has promised that hasn’t come to fruition… well, except for another trip to Sin City, although we all know that’s not entirely his fault, don’t we?
