Hope This Disc Doesn't Burn After Playing
I’ll be the first to admit that Burn After Reading is no No Country For Old Men, but it’s still a highly enjoyable flick from the Coen Brothers; a movie that is more on par with Fargo or The Hudsucker Proxy than the Coen’s more recent Oscar winning flick. Now the movie is heading for DVD and Blu-ray, with some pretty interesting bonus material, including more material than is being announced thanks to Blu-ray’s downloadable content potential.
On the DVD side of things, you unfortunately won’t find quite as much content besides the movie. A featurette that looks at the making of the movie, a featurette about the talent involved, and a final featurette about George Clooney, for whom Joel and Ethan Coen say the movie completes a trilogy of foolishness. That’s about it though. The Blu-ray side carries a bit more content. First, viewers will get the chance to collect their favorite scenes together and share through BD-Live. More impressively, however, is the notion that additional content will be made available through BD-Live. Don’t expect a commentary track or anything like that, but the possibilities are quite intriguing.
Burn After Reading slides into stores on December 23rd… just barely in time to make it under some people’s Christmas trees. If you missed the movie in theaters though, you owe it to yourself to check it out on DVD or Blu-ray.
