The Host Brings Horror In July
I have to admit a lack of knowledge when it comes to foreign horror films. I tend to be focused on American movies and miss out on most foreign films unless they are highly acclaimed. I love the ones I’m inspired to watch, such as Korea’s Oldboy, but they aren’t something I go out of my way to see.
Unfortunately the studios aren’t necessarily helping with that. Take the press release we got for The Host. All I know about it is the description sent by Magnolia pictures: “A creature emerges from the Han River’s shores for a feeding frenzy upon onlookers. When a young girl is snatched in the melee, her family set off to recover her from the monster that the government claims to be a host of an unidentified virus.” Not really a lot of information, is there?
So, if you know about The Host, you’ll be happy to know it’s coming out on July 24th on Standard Edition DVD, Two-Disc Collector’s Edition DVD, HD DVD, and Blu-Ray disc. That’s a lot of options to pick from, and the higher definition versions carry their own special features.
Take a look at what’s listed for the different releases and then see the cover art. Then comment in the section below and tell me what I should know about The Host and why I should give it a look on July 24th.
