Humans Become The Alien Invaders In Battle For Terra
The Terrians are pretty crafty, but they were just no match for Wolverine. When you consider Battle for Terra was released in a quarter as many theaters as Wolverine back in May, it’s obvious the mutant’s advantages included more than just his indestructible claws. Thanks to Lionsgate, the peaceful race will have another shot at pulling in some green when Battle for Terra comes to DVD and Blu-ray on September 22nd.
Sometime in the future, the human race has used up all of Earth’s natural resources and is forced to find a new home. They try to set up colonies on Venus and Mars, but they aren’t suitable for long-term colonization. They find a beacon of hope in the planet Terra, which could be a perfect new home for humanity. The only problem: it’s already inhabited. The human council sets out to find a peaceful solution with the native Terrians, but the human General Hemmer isn’t the patient type and decides to take matters into his own hands.
The cast is as out of this world as their characters. Luke Wilson, Dennis Quaid, Evan Rachel Wood, Danny Glover, Chris Evans, Brian Cox, James Garner, Amanda Peet, and Justin Long all lend their voices to the humans and Terrians.
Both the BD and DVD come with a making-of featurette, audio commentary with director Aristomenis Tsirbas, “Terra – The Original Short Film,” deleted scenes, original storyboards, and the theatrical trailer. For $19.98 on DVD or $29.99 on Blu-ray it’s worth giving Battle for Terra a chance.
