Jingle All The Way For Family Fun In October
One of my absolute guilty pleasure holiday movies is Jingle All The Way, the film that pits Arnold Schwarzenegger against Sinbad in a hunt for the hottest toy of the Christmas season. Sinbad isn’t much of a match for Ah-nold, of course, but he does play a slightly-crazed postal worker, so that gives him a bit of an advantage.
Yes, I know the movie is quite over the top in how far the two men go to get the desired toy. I know the whole bit about Arnold proving himself as a father is incredibly sappy and unbelievable. And, yes, I know it features the kid that many associate with the lowest point of the Star Wars universe, Jake Lloyd; although I still say there’s no need to blame him – he was just an actor playing a part. Call it my appreciation for family friendly holiday movies, call it my own sentiment, or just call it payback for the years I spent working retail in a toy store. I love Jingle All The Way.
Now the Christmas-shopping movie is getting a new “family fun” edition on DVD from Fox, just in time for the holidays. Well, actually it’s October 16th release date is far in advance of the holiday, but now you won’t have any excuse not to see Jingle All The Way this holiday season… unless you’re just as bad of a shopper as the men depicted in the movie. The family fun edition includes an extended cut of the film, including five minutes of new footage integrated back into the movie and bonus material aimed to please both kids and parents. Take a look:
Bonus Materials
- Extended Cut of the film (supervised by director Brian Levant)
- “Turbo Man: Behind the Mask” featurette
- “The Making of a Hero” featurette
- “Super Kids” featurette
- Interactive Set-top Games: “Christmas Rush” and “Guess the Gift”
Jingle All The Way Family Fun Edition hits shelves on October 16th. Don’t wait until you have to face off with a crazy postal worker to get yours.
